Important organizational information about the WONCA Conference 2011
Passport and visa
EU citizens are free to travel with any form of ID. For visitors from any other countries, it is recommended to check document requirements with the Polish embassy or consulate in their country of residence. Delegates requiring a letter of invitation for visa purposes are kindly requested to write to the congress organizers.
In general, a citizen of a European Economic Area member state (EU and Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) does not need a visa in order to cross the country border for a period less than 90 days. Only a valid travel document or other document certifying your identity and citizenship is required. However, a visa may still be required if you enter Poland for employment purposes or for a stay longer than three months. In such a case, you need an invitation from your research host institution or a written employment offer from your employer-to-be.
The same rule applies to citizens coming from countries enumerated on the list of states having signed with Poland bilateral agreements on movement of people click here to see the list
If you are a citizen of a country not enumerated on the list you need to obtain a visa valid for the duration of your stay before your arrival to Poland. For further information concerning entry requirements and residence in Poland please contact Polish embassy or consulate in your country.
Foreigners can apply for visas in Polish diplomatic outposts abroad. They must be ready with their personal details, dates of arrival and departure to and from Poland as well as the purpose of their visit. The consulate will confirm acceptance of applications with the appropriate stamp in the passport.
You must also pay a fee when applying for your passport. Regardless of the type of visa and period of its validity visa payments range from 10-80 euros. In the case of visa applications being refused by a consulate no payments made will be returned. In connection with Poland’s EU accession, transit visas have been reintroduced for citizens of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. Thanks to a beneficial bilateral agreement, citizens of Ukraine will not have to pay a visa fee.
