WONCA Europe
WONCA Europe is one of the 6 sub-organizations of WONCA World and includes all European countries and represents more than 45.000 family physicians in Europe. WONCA Europe has about 400 direct members.
The society of WONCA EUROPE is the academic and scientific society for general practitioners in Europe. Its objective is to improve the quality of life of the peoples of the world through fostering and maintaining high standards of care in general practice/family medicine by providing a forum for exchange of knowledge and information; encouraging and supporting the development of academic organizations of general practitioners/family physicians; and representing the educational, research and service provision activities of general practitioners/family physicians before other world organizations and forums concerned with health and medical care. The society aims to stimulate networking among GPs with an interest in professional development, research, education and quality improvement.
WONCA Europe networks are:
  • Education: EURACT
  • Quality improvement: EQuiP
  • Research: EGPRN
  • These networks handle all important family-medicine-related issues in Europe. In cooperation with delegates from all member countries, they work on key consensus documents for family medicine. These can then be used by the national GP organizations, following adjustment to their individual health systems.
WONCA Europe carries out an annual European conference to promote networking between GPs with an interest in research, education and quality improvement.
